OBJECT-CODE DATE INTERCEPTION

Experimental methods for intercepting dates in
executable object code are being researched.  These
methods do not yet have commercial tools, and may not
even work, but the current research looks promising.
In particular, object-code year 2000 interception may
provide a way of dealing with a very knotty and
difficult problem: How to make year 2000 repairs in the
aging legacy applications where the source code is
missing or uncompilable, but the software is still
being executed.
